Mark took a deep breath and threw a little pebble at Raj’s window, hoping to catch his attention, since he wasn’t picking up calls. Knowing him, he was probably gaming and lost track of the reality around him. Mark didn’t have that luxury. He was stuck, desperate, and so anxious he had a stomachache. Despite the night’s chill, he was so hot he half suspected himself to be feverish. He’d hoped for at least a few more days with Seth and Domenico. At the back of his mind had been a glimmer of hope that maybe they’d feel sorry for him. Take him in. Maybe help him find a job? But he couldn’t force himself on them when they clearly had problems of their own. There was a cash prize from the police for anyone who helped find the diner killer, but Mark wouldn’t betray Domenico no matter what money was on offer. It wouldn’t be fair after all that Dom and Seth had done for him.
